When I first came up with the idea for Bach Central Station, I wanted to have all the Bach sites posted here evaluated and sorted into various categories. Since most sites fall into more than one category, the same link must appear in more than one section. This complicated things immensely. I decided that, for the time being, I would keep most of the links on a single page and sort a few of them into the more popular categories.
This site has undergone a major renovation. In order to deal with the many Bach related sites more efficiently and to have them listed in the various sections with minimal effort, I decided to write up an application that would manage all of my Bach links and generate the required HTML. This actually turned out to be easier than I thought it would because of my use of the Delphi, a fantastic Win95 application development language. It was relatively easy to create the database to hold all of the web site data and equally easy to write the interface and HTML output code. The result is an application with which I can manage Bach Central Station's web sites and generate the HTML without touching a text editor. What this will mean, hopefully, is that this site will be updated much more often with many more sites.
